Kickstarting Meditation Practice in 2020-CANCELLED

  • Ebenezer Lutheran Church 1650 West Foster Avenue Chicago, IL, 60640 United States (map)

After the fun, hecticness, excess, and loneliness of the holidays, we look to re-establishing our meditation practice. With fresh insights into why regular meditation practice is so important — often discovered in the absence — we aim to reconnect and deepen. Even with the joys, festivity, and beauty of the season, our petty dissatisfactions and grievances accumulate, even intensify. Meditators take these as opportunities to better understand ourselves. Let’s recommit to this practice in the new year.

This workshop will revive a powerful breathing skill that grounds us and clears the mind. We will dig into our aspirations and motivations to strengthen resolve for the long journey. And we will remind each other about caring for the tender beating heart within each of us seeking peace and compassion.

Santikaro will offer guided practices that draw upon Early Buddhist teachings concerning these themes. Each practice will be followed by a debriefing and discussion. The workshop will be suitable for beginners and experienced meditators alike.

Registration: To attend you must register through EventBrite.  The registration fee is $15 to cover expenses. For Santikaro's effort & teaching, dana (goodwill donation) will be gratefully accepted at the workshop. All dana supports Kevala Retreat and Santikaro’s work.
