Secretary

Tzuming Liao

Tzuming has practiced Buddhism in the tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh since 2007.  In 2013, she became involved with the Insight Dialogue Community (IDC), an organization dedicated to the practice of relational dhamma. She has been a member of ICMC since 2018 and enjoys event organizing and facilitating meditation and mindfulness in the Chicago area.

Emily Bergstrom

Emily came to a Buddhist meditation practice after her second son was born with a rare illness in 2017 (he is doing well today). Her entry point was lovingkindness meditation with Sharon Salzberg followed by Thich Nhat Hanh. Deepening her practice during the pandemic, Emily practiced at home and online at a time when in-person gatherings weren't possible. She found ICMC and joined the board in 2020 and still considers herself a newcomer to the tradition. She works at the intersection of business and social impact and is very interested in how we create meaningful connections (and a sangha) in the world today.

Soo Jong

Soo began her meditation practice in 2014 with a secular mindfulness group.  As she deepened her practice, she discovered the relevance of Buddha's timeless teachings on life.  Soo has attended numerous retreats, taught primarily by Theravadan lay and monastic teachers.  Soo is grateful for the support she receives from the Insight community and other spiritual friends and hopes to continue to be of service to the greater ICMC sangha.
