Finding Freedom- May 24, 6:30 - 8pm
Please join us welcoming Tuere Sala. She will share her reflections on her path to finding freedom in the Dharma.
Tuere writes, “Growing up in a housing project in Seattle, being a Black single mother on welfare and struggling to get through school all seem to point away from meditation. Somewhere along the way to success, I found freedom in the Dharma. I found a reliable refuge in Buddha, Dharma and Sangha.”
Cultivating Right Intention - July 12, 6:30 - 8pm
Intention is present in every experience, response or action. Cultivating Right Intention in the context of contemporary society can often seem self-indulgent. The constant demands of being a householder can also overshadow intention and make it harder to recognize the expectations, assumptions, desires, beliefs, and/or energy (in other words- the intentions) behind our actions. Intention is part of the unconditional and thus, a necessary aspect of awakening.
Tuere Sala is a Guiding Teacher at Spirit Rock Retreat Center and Seattle Insight. She is a retired prosecuting attorney who has practiced Vipassana meditation for over 30 years. Tuere is committed to lay practice and inspired by bringing the Dharma to nontraditional places. She is a strong advocate for practitioners living with high stress, past trauma and difficulties sitting still. Tuere has been teaching since 2010 and has a long history of assisting others in establishing and maintaining a daily practice.
Tuere’s Dhamma talks can be found on Dharmaseed.
