“May the outward and the inward man be at one.” ~Socrates
When the inward and outward versions of our self are the same, there is no dissonance, no friction. In fact, the result of working the Eightfold Path is this unification, the emptiness of anatta that results in calm abiding. Why? Because there is no friction, no holding, no clinging, and thus no suffering.
As Ajahn Jumnien said: “Empty, empty — happy, happy!”
